Memorial Blood Centers has strived to build an inclusive environment that embraces diversity for all who engage with our lifesaving mission. For decades, we have strongly advocated for scientifically based changes to the FDA policies so that all potential donors would be screened based on an individual donor assessment—not based on their sexual orientation, sex, or gender.
In 2023, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) updated federal blood donor eligibility guidelines, and we fully support the shift to Individual Donor Assessment (IDA) to determine eligibility.
