United States Senator Tina Smith of Minnesota visited Memorial Blood Centers’ (MBC) Richfield Donor Center this August, where she donated blood and filmed a brief PSA to bring attention to the recently declared national blood shortage and encourage her constituents and social media followers to give blood as well.
“A lot of times people don’t think about giving blood unless something in their life happens that makes them realize that this is something that’s really necessary,” said Senator Smith in the video she shared on Instagram and Facebook. “So it’s really a gift if you can stop at Memorial Blood Bank or wherever you can just to help.”
In her video, Senator Smith praised the professionalism of MBC’s staff and emphasized how easy the blood donation process is. During her visit, she was accompanied by several staff members, including one who regularly donates at Richfield.
