All who come to donate Dec. 1–19 will be automatically entered to win lower-level seats at January 4 rivalry game
MINNESOTA – Memorial Blood Centers (MBC) is calling on Minnesotans to donate as the region faces a concerning post-holiday drop in the blood supply. Each year, MBC typically sees more than a 30% decline in donations during Thanksgiving week, and early indicators suggest a similar trend this season. MBC’s blood inventory currently sits at a 4-day supply, below the ideal 7-day level, with Type O blood (critical for trauma and emergency care) at just a 2-day supply.
To help rebuild the supply heading into the busy holiday season, MBC is offering donors a chance to win big. From Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 19, all who come to donate at any MBC donor center or blood drive will be entered to win two lower-level tickets to the Vikings vs. Packers rivalry game at U.S. Bank Stadium on January 4. The winner will also receive two SKOL hats courtesy of The Sota Shop. In addition, two individuals at each donor center and two individuals from all mobile blood drives who come to donate during this timeframe will be randomly selected to receive SKOL hats.
“Holiday travel, seasonal illnesses, and school breaks always leave the blood supply vulnerable, and this year is no exception,” said Kathy Geist, Vice President, Regional Operations at Memorial Blood Centers. “This sweepstakes is a fun way to rally the community while addressing a serious need. Every donation helps patients in local hospitals, and we hope Vikings fans will step up and help us strengthen the blood supply during this critical time.”
Sweepstakes terms and conditions can be found online at mbc.org/sweepstakes. Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month. In light of recent updates to FDA guidance, more people than ever may now be eligible to give. To view current eligibility guidelines, visit mbc.org or call 1-888-448-3253.
