The right type of blood drive for you
Memorial Blood Centers makes hosting a blood drive easy and convenient. With a variety of vehicles of different sizes and capacities, we are flexible enough to accommodate a blood drive with a minimum of 20 volunteer donors up to groups of 500 or more. Our experienced professional staff—including specially trained phlebotomists who collect the blood donations—will bring equipment to your location to support your drive.
- Bloodmobile Drive
Having a bloodmobile available at your business or organization offers your employees, group members, or others from the community easy access to where they will be making their blood donations, just a few feet from your front door. With the look of a large bus—and windows located throughout to make the environment comfortable for donors—the interior contains all the operational areas that could be found at one of our donor centers: a waiting area, up to three private interview booths, five donation beds, a small café to enjoy refreshments, and all the necessary medical equipment to collect blood donations safely. If it is determined that one of our bloodmobiles will work best to accommodate your needs, during the blood drive planning process your Memorial Blood Centers representative will discuss specific requirements, such as selecting an appropriate parking location that will accommodate the bloodmobile and reserving the space for the day of the drive. Also, an area inside your organization will need to be reserved for registering blood donors before they head outside to donate blood.
- On-Site Blood Drive
A blood drive set up inside your business or organization makes use of one of our mobile vehicles—a dock truck—that contains the equipment and supplies to accommodate anywhere from 24 to more than 200 donors. The storage area of this vehicle provides space for up to eight donation beds, eight private interview booths, and all required medical equipment and supplies. You will need to provide tables, garbage cans, and chairs the day of the blood drive. During the planning process, your dedicated Memorial Blood Centers representative will help you determine a location that will best accommodate the needs of your drive, such as a gym, large conference room, or similar open space with sufficient square footage and access to electrical outlets. From beginning to end, we will be there to support your efforts, arriving approximately an hour before to set up for the drive and taking it all down at the end of the day.
- Donor Day
Don’t have a group of 20 or more volunteer donors? There is another way to help save lives. You can bring together members of your book group, bridge club, golf team, or small office and make a date to donate together. Organize a group of at least five donors and enjoy a special Donor Day at one of our 10 Donor Centers. For more information on hosting a Donor Day event, please call 651-332-7131.
