Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why open a new donor center in Richfield?

The new Richfield donor center is larger, newer, and conveniently located close to highways and local attractions. It features state-of-the-art equipment, a comfortable lounge area, an enhanced canteen experience, accessible phone chargers, dedicated on-site parking, and opportunities for even more growth in the future. Plus, the Richfield donor center has space for more donation beds—so you can bring a friend or family member to donate with you!

  • Why close the Bloomington donor center?

Memorial Blood Centers is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. While MBC maintains 10 physical donor centers across Minnesota and western Wisconsin, each donor center operates as efficiently as possible to minimize overhead and maximize the impact each blood donation can have. With this in mind, we have chosen to close our Bloomington location in order to reallocate staff, equipment, and the cost to rent the space.

  • Will I see the same staff?

Yes! Team members from the current Bloomington donor center will move to the new Richfield location.

  • Will the hours at the Richfield donor center change?

No. The Richfield donor center will have the same hours of operation as the current Bloomington site.

  • I have an appointment at the Bloomington donor center scheduled after late March. What should I do?

Memorial Blood Centers call representatives are contacting donors with appointments scheduled at the Bloomington donor center past the closure date to reschedule. If you would like to proactively reschedule your appointment, log into your Hero Hub account, or call us at 888.GIVE.BLD (888.448.3253).

  • I have other questions. Who can I contact?

We understand this is a big change. If you have further questions, you can call us at 888.448.3253 or send a note online.
