"Donating and organizing drives, was always important, but one day about 6 years ago it became personal! My Dad needed emergency surgery and used 17 units on the table and 10 more in the days after that. He survived! Without those lifesaving donors, we would've lost him that day. Dad actually felt bad that he had needed that much blood, but after giving blood every 56 days for his entire 35 year career I told him he had "banked" enough! My family is incredibly grateful that blood was available. I can't imagine how terrible it would've been if we'd lost him that day!" -Jules

Gregg

"I have been giving for several years going back to my military days. I love giving to something I know exactly where it will be used. It costs me nothing, not even my time (over lunch). To me it's the easiest thing in the world to show kindness to someone you may never meet. In turn, I feel like I did something special on that day!" -Gregg

"As a pediatric emergency medicine physician, I know how important it is to have blood products available when they are needed to save the life of a child. That is why I donate platelets regularly though apheresis. If you are considering becoming a donor, now is the time!" - Lois Hall, M.D.

Blood Donor, Marv

"My story starts way back in the late '70's. Newly married to a nurse we decided it was the best way to help. She wasn't able to donate so it was something that was delegated to me. There was a stretch where I fell out of sync with donating but I eventually got back into it. I was one of the first Alyx donors in Duluth and along with single donations recently attained my 10 gallon pin. For me donating blood is a small price to pay for the gift of life to someone in need." - Marv
