World Blood Donor Day is June 14, 2013

A day set aside to recognize the life-saving work of volunteer blood donors in our community, World Blood Donor Day exists to both increase awareness about the need for blood while also offering yet another opportunity to thank blood donors for the gifts of life they provide through blood donation.

Around the world, countless lives are saved each year as a result of blood transfusions. These transfusions would ultimately cease to exist without an adequate supply of safe blood products donated daily by blood donors. So as we join with the rest of the world in celebration, we ask you to consider making June 14, World Blood Donor Day, the day you become a volunteer blood donor.

Give us the opportunity to celebrate YOU by donating blood. Your gift will continue to improve the lives of patients while also assisting our community in maintaining a stable blood supply during the summer months, a time notorious for shortages. And, in June, all blood donors with Memorial Blood Centers will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a pair of tickets to see the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

Plan now to donate to help meet the demand at Ashland’s Memorial Medical Center and other area hospitals. Make an appointment online by visiting Donate Blood and clicking the Schedule Now button to schedule a donation at one of our Northland donor centers. You also can search by zip code for a community blood drive or schedule an appointment to donate in June at one of our donor centers most convenient to you. Here is an upcoming community blood drive in the Ashland area:
